Yankees were swept in a 4-game series, as they lost 8-5 on Thursday, in a back-and-forth game, in which they lost Clark Schmidt to an injury.
To start off the game, coming after a devastating game of losing after a comeback, Yankees got down a run, as Barger double drove Springer in. Grisham responded with his 16th home run of the year, to tie the game.
George Springer continued to be a problem for the Yankees, as he added a two-run home run to give the Blue Jays a 2-run lead.
On the pitching side, Clark Schmidt would come out after 4 innings with an injury, which led to Boone bringing Clayton Beeter in, and he would allow 3 runs.
Chris Bassitt would toe the mound for the Jays, and he would pitch 5 2/3 innings, striking out nine while allowing 3 runs. Bassitt's command of his sinker is what made him mow down some of the Yankees hitters.
Yankees' offense would continue their struggle with runners in scoring position, going 2 for 14.
In the later innings of the game, Yankees were down 1 but George Springer's two-run blast over Luke Weaver made it a 3-run game.
Yankees' loss would bring them to 48-39, as they move back to second place as the Jays moved up to first place.
